The KOHLER K-13461-CP bathroom faucet is like something from the future. The design of it is sleek and modern and it uses innovative technology that allows you to run it by simply putting your hand underneath it. This touchless faucet is very unique in comparison to most other bathroom faucets out there and can instantly modernize any bathroom.
In this article, I’ll be talking a little bit more about the KOHLER brand, discussing the features of this faucet, and going over a list of its pros and cons.
Who Is KOHLER?
KOHLER is a brand that has been around for nearly 150 years. They are known for coming up with intelligent, innovative designs that utilize the latest technology, making everyday tasks much easier and more enjoyable for their customers.
They are most well known for the plumbing products that they produce, such as their faucets, toilets, and sinks. However, they produce a wide variety of other products like shower heads, tub faucets, cabinetry, tiling, and other bathroom hardware and accessories. One thing that all of these products have in common though is their modern and innovative design.
Why the KOHLER K-13461-CP?
The KOHLER K-13461-CP is a truly unique bathroom faucet. It is only available in a sleek white and the exterior design of it is quite modern looking. This faucet does not have a handle because it is a touchless faucet.
This faucet is equipped with insight adaptive infrared technology that senses when you put your hand underneath it and runs the water automatically. This feature is really great if you have something on your hands that you want to wash off but don’t want to get on the handle of your faucet. It also helps to prevent the spreading of bacteria and germs because you don’t need to touch the handle with dirty hands to turn it on before washing your hands.
This faucet also comes with temperature control that allows you to set the temperature to however hot or cold you want it to be. It also has a waterproof protective shroud that protects all of the electronic components from being damaged if any water happens to splash onto them. The installation of this faucet is pretty easy too, so you don’t need to hire a professional to do it if you don’t want to.
This is a very water efficient faucet, but that is mostly because it only has a flow rate of .5 gallons of water per minute. This is a third of what many other faucets’ flow rates are. You also are not able to adjust the water pressure on this faucet which may be an issue for some people. The touchless feature does ensure that you never leave the water running though, which is a big plus and can end up saving you money on your water bill.
This faucet is powered by batteries, although the ones that come with it do have a lifespan of three years so you shouldn’t have to change them out any time soon. You may want to keep some spare batteries around though so that when that lifespan ends, you’ll already have the batteries needed to keep your faucet working.
This faucet does fall on the higher end of the price spectrum, but it also has a five year warranty that covers defects in the construction of the faucet for up to five years after you purchase it.
Pros and Cons
- Unique, modern design
- The touchless feature helps prevent spreading of bacteria
- Easy to install and use
- It comes equipped with temperature control
- Waterproof protective shroud keeps all of the electronic components safe from water and backsplash
- It is water efficient
- It is backed by a 5 year limited warranty
- It needs batteries for the electronic components to operate, although the batteries do last for three years before you need to switch them
- It is kind of pricey
- It only has a flow rate of .5 gallons per minute
- You cannot adjust the water pressure
This faucet is definitely very intelligent and the fact that it’s touchless can be extremely convenient if you are worried about spreading germs or getting things you want to wash off your hands on the handle of your faucet. However, you aren’t able to adjust the water pressure which is kind of inconvenient for some of the everyday tasks you use a bathroom faucet for like brushing your teeth or washing your face.
For the price that you’re paying, I feel like there could be some tweaks made that would at least allow you to adjust the water pressure. They do have a temperature control feature which is nice, but having a pressure control feature as well would make this faucet a lot better in my opinion. If water pressure is not something that you care too much about though, then I think this faucet is a great, innovative choice.
