The Kraus KPF-1602 is one of the more heavy-duty kitchen faucets you’ll have the pleasure of purchasing, with a lot of interesting professional features. Coming in at a high price, it has a lead-free brass construction with a better than average rust-resistant finish. The long life of the product combined with superior rust-resistance makes this a powerhouse of a faucet.

With a lite touch single-lever flow control, you won’t have to strain to find the correct settings. It’s light enough to correctly control the power of the water as well as the temperature, but not loose enough to lose track of where each setting is. It uses the same commercial-style spring design that consumers would find in most upscale restaurant kitchens, bringing the infamous design and all of its innovations directly to your home kitchen.

Flow control is smooth thanks to the integrated two-way diverter, which also goes hand and hand with the powerful pre-rinse spray. Kraus KPF-1602 Overview

Best Features of the Kraus KPF-1602

It’s hard not to notice how good it looks compared to other faucets, or rather how it stands out. Whether choosing the chrome or the stainless steel finish, this will look great in any kitchen. The wonderful combination of a Kerox ceramic cartridge and a Neoperl aerator means drip-free use along with the reliability that Kraus has become popular for.

The Kraus KPF-1602 is one of the few products with a useful side pot filler that doesn’t take away from the pull-down spray head. Users will find that they will use the side pot filler a lot more than normal and will wonder how they went without one for so long. Despite the large size of the system it swivels completely for complete sink access and its high arc gives you more room than normal when doing the dishes.

Rubber nozzles are included and installed and prevent hard water buildup and other anomalies from bad water. The usual limited lifetime warranty from Kraus is included but covers the original owner only, and turns out to be an iron-clad warranty.

Certification is by DOE, CEC, MASS, CSA, IAPMO, cUPC, UPC, NSF, ANSIE CALGreen, and other agencies. The faucet height is a nice 32 inches with a spout height of 11.5 inches and spout reach of 8.5 inches. the flow rate maxes out at 1.8 GPM with installation requirements of 1.375 inches for the faucet hole and a maximum deck thickness of 1.75 inches. This is one of the largest and best kitchen faucets you can but for the current price, and all with the necessary features you need.

Things to Know About the Kraus KPF-1602

This is not your typical kitchen faucet, and as discussed, is typical of what would be found in commercial establishments. The finishes are limited to only 2 options that may not be a welcome fit for people that are picky about how their kitchens look. It does take getting used to since it is so high but is a great product once you get used to it.

Like all of Kraus's other products, the installation for the KPF-1602 comes with all the necessary mounting hardware. You don't need to worry about getting additional items and should be ready to go shortly after reading the instruction manual. This is one of Kraus's many commercial style models, so if you like the idea of it but don’t find this model particularly attractive, check out the others.

Best Comparison

At the same price is the VIGO VG02007ST PullDown Spray Kitchen Faucet that has similar features but less than desirable finish options. The overall components are also a lot cheaper and prone to breaking than the higher class Kraus product, which explains why it is outselling this particular VIGO model. The style of the VIGO is nicer than the Kraus, so if style is important, the other available Kraus commercial models may be your best bet.

Price Changes

The price has stayed the same since the product debuted and the stock is still high. The style is an acquired taste and not a common purchase. Because of this, it is readily available year round and doesn't experience big price increases but also doesn’t benefit from sales. Consumers can expect this to stay the same as this wonderfully feature-rich but niche item will continue to sell steadily.

Personal Opinion

There are a lot of different types of kitchen faucets, and commercial kitchen faucets account for a good portion of the market. This is a type that functions really well in bigger kitchens but isn’t fully utilized by the common consumer, which is why it isn’t seen in a lot of home kitchens. Buyers that do opt for these types of models enjoy an experience completely different to regular kitchen faucets, and as such, commercial kitchen faucets are one of the best kept secrets in the residential market.

Until more people catch on to how great these work, they will continue to be a niche industry. The only problem with that is it also means there will be fewer sales on specific commercial kitchen faucets, although some have been known to have a sale from time to time. If you find one that you really like, don't delay because the current price is probably as low as it gets for any commercial faucet from most manufacturers.

Kraus has a nice line of this type of faucet that has sold really well and led to other companies using a copycat method for their commercial kitchen faucets. If you want one of the best-made commercial kitchen faucets in the industry, then starting with Kraus is a safe bet, and guarantees some really remarkable quality. For smaller kitchens, this model is not recommended, but for bigger kitchens it is highly recommended and should seriously be considered over other traditional models, especially if you have a lot of traffic in your kitchen.

Choosing a commercial kitchen faucet is not the easiest thing to do, so make sure to do the necessary homework when deciding if it is a viable option for your kitchen. Larger kitchens will benefit from the great features of this model, especially kitchens that have a lot of dish washing. Although there are better overall options for your kitchen if you are looking strictly at design, the functionality of this model will dispel the idea that a commercial kitchen faucet can’t work in a residential home. This is a top notch item that performs admirably in any situation.
